The song was created with the Strudel live coding platform, and several tools from the GoSuraj creative studio.
It started as a reflective solo piano piece that attempted to capture a dramatically melancholic reflection of a sunlit glacier, surrounded by icy cold waters, as it endured the rising heat of the world. That initial piece can be seen in the live coding video.
The song follows the calmer and more hopeful The Weight Is Gone(/blog/post/weight-gone). However, to more accurately capture the original mood, this piece blends darker melancholic, EDM (e.g., expressive synth leads, chiptune melodies, rich harmonies, minimal Techno textures, etc.), upbeat Rock rhythms, and Classical solo piano styles.
The visuals aimed to complement the mood of the music, and were inspired by the graphics of the popular platformer video game Sonic Robo Blast 2 (SRB2), which is known for its fast-paced 3D worlds that it build upon the iconic Doom Legacy engine.
