Early Stratus + Livecoding Journey

Hey, it's Ray.

This post is about the early version of the new Stratus platform, and my livecoding journey.

This is a very early build of the new Stratus platform for composition and livecoding.

It's the result of my livecoding journey so far, which started with Temutone that evolved a bit with TemScript before finding wonderful world of livecoding with TidalCycles/Strudel. I wasn't satisfied with TemScript, and reworked it into the still incomplete TEEQ. It's good for generating music but still lacked any real composition.

This led the creation of [Stratus]. It's inspired by previous livecoding platforms but with a focus on blending composition with livecoding using several components (StratusC compiler, StratusScript, etc) that together form the Stratus platform. Its graphical design is a mishmash of previous GoTools suite apps (with Reveco UI as Stratus is technically still a GoTools wave 4 app) along with some custom designed UI unique to Stratus.

I've always wanted to make a compiler and whilst the platform is an early build, I'm looking forward to seeing how it develops.
